POSOW II Kick Off Meeting, Brest (France), 3-4 March 2015
As part of Action A1 (Project technical and financial coordination) and Action A2 (Kick-off Meeting (KoM)) of the Project Preparedness for Oil-polluted Shoreline clean-up and Oiled Wildlife interventions II (POSOW II), the technical partners of the project met on the premises of the Centre de documentation, de recherche et d'expérimentations sur les pollutions accidentelles des eaux (Cedre) in Brest, France, for a meeting on 03rd and 04th March 2015.
Several representatives of Cedre (Coordinator) attended parts of the meeting, according to the issues discussed. One representative of each Associated Beneficiary, namely the Regional Marine Pollution Emergency Response Centre for the Mediterranean Sea (REMPEC), the Istituto Superiore per la Protezione e la Ricerca Ambientale (ISPRA), the General Directorate of Maritime and Inland Waters (DG-MARINWA), the Instituto Portuario de Estudios y Cooperacion de la Comunidad Valenciana (FEPORTS), and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) participated to this meeting.
The main aims were:
- To follow up the statement of Cooperation Agreements and pre-payment to the partners;
- To establish the project management and publicity procedures and activities; and
- To launch the development of the two new training packages (waste management and role of fishermen) and the translation of the 4 packages developed during POSOW I related to volunteer management, oiled shoreline assessment, oiled shoreline clean-up and oiled wildlife response.
